Tsavo East and West
Tsavo National Park is Kenya’s largest and most diverse protected area, covering over 22,000 square kilometers. It is divided into Tsavo East and Tsavo West, each offering distinct landscapes and wildlife experiences.
Tsavo East is flat and open, home to large herds of red-dust elephants, lions, and cheetahs.Tsavo West is more mountainous, featuring volcanic landscapes, Mzima Springs, and the Shetani Lava Flows.
Tsavo is famous for its history with the “Man-Eaters of Tsavo,” two lions that preyed on railway workers in the late 19th century. Today, it is a tranquil wildlife haven, with stunning landscapes, rich biodiversity, and fewer tourists compared to Maasai Mara. The park’s economy relies on ecotourism, with mid-budget and luxury lodges offering safari experiences, nature walks, and birdwatching.
